Movie star Tom Cruise and his fiance, actress Katie Holmes, are expecting a baby six months into a whirlwind romance that has turned the once intensely private Cruise into a giddy and very public lover.

News of the pregnancy was first reported by People magazine on Wednesday. A statement from Cruise's publicist, his sister Lee Anne DeVette, added: "Tom and Katie are very excited, and the entire family is very excited." Holmes, she said, "has never felt better."

Bridget Jones is untying the knot. Renee Zellweger, who played the lovelorn Brit in "Bridget Jones's Diary," and country music star Kenny Chesney will have their four-month-old marriage annulled, Chesney's publicist, Holly Gleason, and Zellweger's Los Angeles-based publicist Nanci Ryder, confirmed to The Associated Press on Thursday.

In court papers filed Wednesday, Zellweger listed "fraud" as the reason for the breakup but did not elaborate.

Bronchitis has forced Kelly Clarkson to cancel three more concerts in Nevada and Washington.

The "Breakaway" singer called off two performances in California last week. Clarkson had hoped to be well enough to perform, but was still feeling ill at a sound check Friday, according to a statement from RCA Music Group.

Madonna's 47th birthday celebration was marred Tuesday when she suffered several broken bones in a horse riding accident at her country home outside London, her publicist told The Associated Press.

An East Rutherford woman has been accused by authorities of amassing more than $12,000 in free merchandise by claiming she was Jessica Simpson's assistant.

Courtney Handel, 23, was arrested Friday. By Sunday, she had been released from East Rutherford police headquarters, where she had been detained. Police said she faces charges of theft by deception, fraud and trademark infringement.

A US jury convicted a photographer, accused of trying to blackmail movie star Cameron Diaz over topless pictures he took of her 13 years ago, of forgery, attempted grand theft and perjury.

The panel in Los Angeles returned three guilty verdicts against John Rutter following a two-week trial stemming from his offer to sell her photos taken when she was an unknown model.
